Discover Hongkong

This is the second time I was out of the country. The first was last year in Singapore to celebrate my 25th birthday. It was just my mom and I alone. After 14 months, again I was able to fly out of the country and this time it's Hong Kong. It was a sudden trip with my colleagues when we decided to have a break from months of working.

Took the first flight to HK and was able to catch the sunrise. It was more dramatic in my Snapchat post. :)

After leaving our stuff at the Hotel, we tried the Rickshaw Sightseeing Bus.

OOTD: shirt and jacket from Adidas, skinny jeans from H&M and shoes from Nike.

Harbour City by day.

Harbour City by night.

At Lan Kwai Fong, Met with Errol who's also having a vacation in HK. Our first night and his last night.
(From L-R)Errol, Pau, Cha-cha and I.

Had our 2nd day Brunch at Cafe De Coral, just in front of our hotel BP International at Austin Road. Cafe De Coral is a fastfood type restaurant and it's very cheap. Of course, we don't want to stick with McDo or KFC! Cheapest price in the menu starts at 24HKD. (You do the math!)

At Citygate Outlets. Where most of the branded goods are here. The clothes are quite cheaper here but I think the shoes are almost with the same price in compared in the Philippines. OOTD: shades from Sunnies by Charlie, top and bottom from H&M, Shoes from New Balance, watch from G-Shock, Bracelet from Michael Kors and bag from Ferragamo.

Their MTR (Mass Transit Railways) lines are very modern unlike in the Philippines, trains here are inter-connected with 155 stations all in all. It's very fast, people fall in line, they give way to elders, pregnant/s and women. I'm almost freezing because it's really cold inside.

With the whole crew! (From L-R)Me, Cha-Cha, Elna, Ina, Pau and Cassidy.  There was a Gong-cha kiosk just right outside Tung Chung Station, might as well try it! Same taste with what we have in the Philippines.

I also saw this sushi take out kiosk outside Tung Chung station. You can choose from a variety of sushi or you can just grab an assorted box. I preferred to pick what I like. Cravings satisfied!

From Tung Chung, there's a bus terminal behind Citygate Outlets going to Tian Tan, Big Buddha in Lantau Island. Before we reach the top of the mountain, we saw Shek Pik Prison. It was big, I even saw a tennis court and an Olympic size pool (not sure if that's really a pool though.) Then I remembered the view of Manila City Jail when I used to walk from LRT 2-LRT1 in Manila. Why it can't be like that? Oh well, no comment.

Stunning view of the Buddha at the mountain peak.

Unfortunately, the gate was closed. We weren't able to climb up because we were too busy taking pictures downstairs. At least, we had a groufie with the big buddha.

Straight from Launtau Island, we went to Mongkok. Here, they have several local stores here but what really make people go here are the tiangges. They have a long stretch of pop-up stores along the street, similar to our night market in Divisoria. I bought some key chains, t-shirts, fridge magnets and other pasalubong here. You'll can also see some imitated goods being sold in this area. Funny because there was an instance that I was just asking for the price of an item, though I don't really have plans to buy it. I continued walking when the seller would shouted "magkano! magkano!" she wants me to name the price like what we used to do when buying in tiangges in the Philippines. They really know when it's Filipino, we make "tawad". Ending, I bought the item. hahah

Passed by this foreigner along Mongkok area. He's selling photographs which he took from his travels. Any amount will do, all collected donations will be used for his future trips. Cool strategy!

2nd night out. We just came from a bar near our hotel. I was already freaking out because the beer cost too much but I want more! So we decided to buy beer at 7-eleven and drink in an alley. A city police just cross in front of us so we acted like we were just taking pictures and taking a rest at the benches. good boy gone bad!

On our third day, before we head to Disney Land, I saw this rustic wall right outside our hotel. Thanks to Cha-cha for taking this photo. :) OOTD: long sleeves from Uniqlo, shirt from Adidas, shorts from Bass, shoes from H&M.

Tourist mode-on!

Some photos from Disney Land

I got separated with my companions at Disney Land and I decided to go to Causeway Bay alone to do some shopping.

Since it's our last night Cha-cha and I went for a last night out. Pau wasn't able to come because he was already dead sleeping. Anyway, in the photo you'll see Me, Cha-cha and Sumod, a bar manager somewhere in Wellington Area (walking distance from our hotel). Lucky enough, he was too nice not to charge us with our drinks! We went home drunk. Haha

Drunk along Wellington. Still had my OOTD! My snaps were way better! We were drunk dancing at the street while going home! OOTD: shirt from River Island, longsleeves from Uniqlo, shorts from 21Men and shoes from New Balance.

Tsing Ma Bridge going to Hong Kong International Airport. Wasn't able to take more photos. I'm still drunk. hahaha

Before leaving the city, let me take an OOTD: blazer and jeans from H&M, tank top from Folded and Hung, bag from Samsonite.

I was over-all happy with this trip. I actually thought that it was a well deserved vacation from the projects and current pitches we were handling that time. It was nice to have a different environment. Going out of the country with your colleagues and having pure vacation. Sometimes we really have to take a time off from work because it causes us more stress and we don't want to feel like we don't have a life besides work.

On another note, if I were to choose between the two countries I have been to, I would still choose Singapore. People there are more welcoming compared in Hong Kong. Most of the time, locals doesn't really know how to communicate well. Not even a simple English can do with them. But when it comes to shopping it's a little bit cheaper in HK than Singapore, even in the Philippines especially the branded ones.

Anyway, let me give you some traveling tips when you are here in Hong Kong.
  • Make an itinerary, research and study the transport system especially when taking buses. Most drivers don't speak in English (or they just don't want speaking at all.)
  • Wear comfortable walking foot wear, imagine you'll roam around Glorietta 6-8 times in 3-5 hours.
  • Don't be scared getting lost, just remember where you came from or find the nearest MTR station. You'll be safe.
  • For drinkers, Have fun! explore HK at night. They have good bars in some area. Try to make friends, who knows he/she will treat you.
  • Last but not the least. TRY NOT TO SPEAK SOMETHING BAD IN TAGALOG, there are still many Filipinos in this city and you don't want to give bad impressions especially to your co-Filipino.
Don't forget to comment. :D
